Regional Odontodysplasia

Definition: Hypoplastic and hypocalcified enamel and dentin.

Radiographic Features:

Location: Typically associated with one quadrant.

Edge: Well-defined.

Shape: Large pulp chambers and root canals with thin enamel and dentin.  Frequently described as ‘ghost’ teeth.

Internal: Radiolucent pulp chambers and root canals.  Radiopaque enamel and dentin.

Other: None.

Number: Associated with teeth in one quadrant.
