Definition: Elongated body and pulp chamber of a multi-rooted tooth with shorter than normal roots. The crown appears to be within the range of normal. The cemento-enamel junction (CEJ) lacks constriction. Occurs in 0.25% to 11.3% of the population.
Radiographic Features:
Location: Most commonly seen on mandibular molars, but can be associated with any multi-rooted tooth.
Edge: Well-defined.
Shape: Elongated body of a tooth with shortened roots.
Internal: Mixed radiopaque/radiolucent, same radiopacity/radiolucency as tooth structure/pulp chamber.
Other: None.
Number: Can be either single or multiple.
