Mucositis


Definition: A localized thickening of the mucosa of the maxillary sinus.  This is frequently seen adjacent to an area of inflammation of the maxilla or of tooth origin.

Radiographic Features:

Location: Floor of maxillary sinus adjacent to an area of inflammation.

Edge: Well-defined.

Shape: No particular shape.

Internal: Radiopaque.

Other: None.

Number: Maybe single or multiple depending of surrounding bone and teeth.
