Mandibular Tori


Definition: Hyperostosis of bone found on the lingual aspect of the mandible.

Radiographic Features:

Location: Can be seen on any mandibular periapical radiographs and sometimes may be seen on bitewing radiographs.  They are most commonly seen on mandibular anterior periapicals.

Edge: Well-defined to Well-localized.

Shape: Round to Ovoid.

Internal: Radiopaque, radiopacity of bone.

Other: None.

Number: May be single (unilateral) but is more commonly multiple (bilateral).
