This week I have a case of attrition. Attrition is the physiological wearing away of tooth structure, also known as bruxism or grinding. This case shows flattening of the cusps of the teeth. With this also comes a decreased overall height of the crown of the tooth. This case shows moderate to severe attrition throughout the oral cavity. Treatment typically is a night guard to prevent further attrition of the teeth. All three radiographs below are from the same patient.
